Lectio Divina Reflection – Mark 4:35–41

“Even the wind and the sea obey him.”

When I prayed with this passage, I was first struck by awe alongside the disciples. Jesus calms a raging sea with just a few words. Their fear turns into wonder—and honestly, mine does too.

Then my attention shifted to Jesus asleep in the boat. I’ve heard it said that in Mark’s Gospel the disciples often seem “simple,” slow to understand who Jesus really is. But as I sat with the scene, I realized how familiar it feels. The storm is real, the boat is rocking, and Christ is right there—resting, not panicking, yet fully present and able to save.

It made me ask myself: how many times a day do I get worked up, anxious, or reactive when the Lord is already with me? How different am I, really, from these disciples?

Prayer:

Lord, help me to listen with the ear of my heart, to remain faithful in Your presence, and to trust You in every storm, knowing that You are always with me.
