Humility beyond Rank and Title
Chapter 62 shifts the focus, but keeps the same spirit. Benedict is careful to honor priests, yet he quietly insists that holiness is measured by humility, not by rank or title. Ordination, role, or responsibility doesn’t place someone above the work of conversion. In the monastery, everyone remains a brother among brothers, still learning how to listen, obey, and love. Read this way, Benedict offers a gentle reminder that in the Christian life—whether in parish, workplace, or family—what matters most is not the position we hold, but the humility with which we hold it.
